ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court’s order in the case of a youth killed by Rangers in Karachi will be implemented in letter and spirit, Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Maulvi Anwarul Haq said on Monday. The AGP said that the federal government will not file a review petition against the Supreme Court order over the killing. He, however, said the concerned affected officers, if they wished, could file their review petitions against the court’s orders in their personal capacity.Meanwhile, Sindh Advocate General Abdul Fatah Malik said that the Sindh government has decided to defer its decision of filing review plea against the Supreme Court’s decision of removing the Sindh Rangers director general and Sindh Police IG. He said the DG Rangers and IGP Sindh were the employees of the federal government, thus it (the federal government) would deal with their matter.Last week officials of the Sindh Rangers killed a young boy, Sarfaraz Shah, in Karachi in broad daylight. The entire incident was widely broadcast by TV channels. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while taking suo moto notice on June 10 directed the federal government to remove Sindh Police IG Fayyaz Leghari and Sindh Rangers Director General Maj Gen Ejaz Chaudhry from their posts. The court had asked the federal government to issue notification to this effect within three days otherwise the salaries and other benefits of the two officers will be ceased till the time the notification is issued. – Dailytimes
