Aansu Lake is one of the significant natural lakes in Pakistan said to have been discovered in 1993 by Pakistan Air Force Pilots when they were flying lower in Kaghan Valley where the lake is located. Its tear drop like embodiment made it noticed and thus entitled it as “Aansu Lake”.Aansu Lake is located in lap of Kaghan Valley in Mansehra District of North-West Frontier Province (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa),and is near Malika Parbat in the Himalayan range. It is a high altitude lake with elevation 4,126 metres and can be reached by two different routes. The first one is arduous that is from Saiful Mulook Lake and takes more than 12 hours to have a round trip to Ansoo lake. The other route to reach Ansoo Lake is from the village Mahandri i.e. 40 km south to Naran Village and is approached through Manoor Gali and Kach Gali.Both of these treks to reach Ansoo Lake are in opposite direction from the lake and connect through mountains top that is 300–400 feet above than the lake waters. On one side of the Aansu Lake is the top of Malika Parbat and fascinating skyline of high mountains that are covered with snow on the other side.Yet the name “Aansu Lake” is kept on its tear like shape, the lake also resembles Human Eye. The central ice land depicts Iris of Human Eye and a ridge looks like its Eyebrow that becomes more prominent when ice melts in summers on the eyebrow.People may camp on the extremely cold mountains as there is no place to stay while visiting Aansu Lake in Mansehra District of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP).
