With Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the chair,the Defence Committee(DCC) was held at PM House. Also in attendance were Federal Interior and Finance Ministers and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
It was decided in the meeting that national security is the foremost priority and all arms of the government will ensure that terrorists hideouts will be destroyed, using all appropriate means. It was also decided that the DCC will continue to meet regularly to develop further, update and closely monitor implementation of the counter-terrorism strategy. Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha, Finance Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Cabinet Secretary were also present in the meeting. – Dunyanews
