ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday underlined that US must understand ground realties in Pakistan following the killing of OBL in Abbottabad.He expressed these views during his meeting with US Special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Marc Grossman at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday.
US Ambassador in Islamabad Mr. Cameron P. Munter was also present during the meeting besides other US officials. Pak side included Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Federal Minister for Finance, Mr. A. Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Interior, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, MOS for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Hussain Haqqani, Pak Ambassador in US.The meeting was in the context of follow up of Senator John Kerry’s meeting with the President on May 16 in which the two sides agreed to put the relations back on track and that the relations should go forward on the basis of mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual interest.
According to sources, President told Grossman that US must understand ground realities without pressure in Abbotabad operation adding raising eye brows and pointing fingers at Armed Forces of Pakistan will augment difficulties.He said that Al-Qaeda gave maximum loss to Pakistan hence it is need of the hour to diffuse tension and move forward.Envoy Marc Grossman discussed the situation with President after killing of bin Laden in Abbottabad. He also talked about the impact of the US special forces operation in Pakistan over the war on terror and the regional situations, sources said.
President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated his call for Pakistan and United States to remain focused on the path of pursuing multifaceted and durable strategic ties for the realization of shared objectives than to be swayed by isolated incidents, sources said.Sources told Online that President also met Hussain Haqqani, Pak Ambassador in US and discussed with him the impact after OBL killing adding we have showed our grave concern to the US regarding the entire episode thick and thin. – Onlinenews
