LAHORE: After the new political alliance between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief, Nawaz Sharif, has formally agreed to adopt the PML-Q like-minded group, sources informed this scribe. The sources said that Nawaz Sharif had directed the party’s central leadership to complete initial negotiations with the group leaders before his return to Pakistan at the end of this week.“Nawaz Sharif has also contacted the PML-N’s central leadership and has asked it to arrange meetings with different leaders of the group, including former premier Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Saleem Saifullah, Khursheed Kasuri, Humayun Akhtar, Ejazul Haq, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Mian Muhammad Azhar and Mian Muhammad Asif in order to convince them to re-join the party in the greater interest of the nation,” sources elaborated. The sources further added that PML-N chief was not willing to adopt the like-minded group some time back, when the group leaders had tried to join his party and in this connection, Mir Zafarullah Jamali had also met Nawaz Sharif at his residence few months back.
“Now, after having seen the political situation, he has agreed to accept this group in the PML-N, as the party will gain more strength against the new political formation from the opponents,” they explained.PML-N sources also said that there was a possibility that Nawaz Sharif could announce adoption of the like-minded group in the party’s central committee meeting scheduled to be held after his return to Pakistan on May 10 (Tuesday) in Islamabad, if both parties finalised the agreement of mutual understanding in national politics. On the other hand, Chaudhry brothers of PML-Q have also declared that they are ready to accommodate all angry members of the party, who remained the party workers during the last regime and later left them due to any reason.According to the sources in PML-Q, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi have also decided to start making direct and indirect contacts with the members of the like-minded group, expecting they will succeed in getting sympathies of some of these party leaders.
When this scribe made a contact with a leader of the like-minded group, on a promise not to disclose his name, he informed that his group was keeping an eye on changes at the political canvas, and was ready to play its due role in the national politics. He further said that his group leaders were in contact with each other and mostly willing to go along with the PML-N, as it was their mother party and they trusted it more than anybody else.About the contacts at party level from PML-N or PML-Q with them directly or indirectly, he only said, “The musical chair has just started’. – Dailytimes
