KARACHI: A two-day workshop on ‘Comprehen-sive Total Knee Replace-ment’ was conducted on April 23-24 under the auspices of the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).The first day of workshop course was held at the CPSP Karachi Centre in which LNH’s head of Department of Orthopedics Dr Shahid Noor (course director), Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Zaki Idrees (course chief organiser) and Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Intikhab Taufeeq delivered their lectures on total knee replacement in severely deformed knees and bone defects, surgical approaches and bone cuts and complications during preoperative period and their management.All the lectures were live telecasted at the CPSP Regional Centres across Pakistan and the CPSP Centre Kathmandu, Nepal.The second day of the workshop course was held at the LNH in which total knee replacement surgeries were demonstrated by Dr Shahid Noor and Dr Zaki Idrees during which participants were informed regarding details of surgical procedures and steps.It was an interactive workshop. Hands on cadaveric total knee replacement workshop was also held in which participants performed surgeries themselves under the supervision of Dr Shahid Noor, Dr Zaki Idrees and Dr Intikhab Taufeeq. – Dailytimes
