The PTI convoy has reached Peshawar to stage a sit-in against the US drone strikes in tribal areas.
Addressing the protesters after his arrival in Peshawar, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan appealed all the opponents of drone attacks to take part in the sit-in. He said that no one would be allowed to target innocent Pakistanis. He said that Pakistani civilians were being brutally killed from last 8 years.
He invited all the political and religious parties to join the sit-in against drone hits. He also revealed that Javed Hashmi and Marvi Memon will join the sit-in on Sunday. Imran Khan stated that the government had failed to provide protection to the people. He said that the PTI sit-in was organised in the larger national interest.
Khan added that the parliament’s resolutions against the drone attacks could not stop the drone hits because the matter was fixed at higher levels.
Meanwhile, convoys of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Insaf Students Federation, Muslim League-Q, JUI-F, Jamat-e-Islami and Pakistan People’s Party Sherpao along with thousands of civil society activists have reached Bagh-e-Naran Hayatabad, Peshawar, to take part in the PTI sit-in.
Talking to Dunya news while lying on a bed in the sit-down strike, PTI chief Imran Khan said that the strike had exceeded his expectations and the next course of action would be announced this evening.
Imran Khan said that the strike was the beginning of a revolution and change. He said that fear of America is in the hearts of the people. He added that if the people in the United States or Britain found out about the reality of the drone attacks, they would take out protest rallies bigger than those in Pakistan.
It is expected that more than one hundred thousand people would participate in the protest. Earlier, a convoy of 1500 vehicles led by Imran Khan reached Peshawar. They were welcomed and joined by a large number of people in different cities. – dunyanews
