KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Fayyaz Ahmad Leghari inaugurated the first-ever Pakistan Police Games here at the Garden Police Headquarters, on Wednesday.Games’ Patron-in-Chief and CCPO Karachi Saud Mirza apprised on this occasion that the games include cricket, football, hockey, basketball, table tennis, boxing, athletics, handball, judo, netball, shooting and other competitions. Some 1,500 players are participating in the event while a total of 51 teams from all four provinces and capital, including the motorway police, are participating.This is the first time Police Games are being organised on national level. Sindh police had previously organised provincial Police Games in 2009 and 2011. Leghari hailed his precursor Salahuddin Babar Khatak for bringing up the idea of Sindh Police Games saying “the credit goes to Khattak for successful 2009 and 2011 Sindh Police Games”. He also congratulated CCPO Karachi, DIG Headquarter, DIG East, AIGP Welfare and others for successful arrangements of the games. – Dailytimes
