CHARSADDA: Atleast twelve persons including a SHO was killed while 29 others got seriously injured in another suicide attack on convoy of JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman near DC office on Thursday.According to Media Reports, most of injured were in critical condition after the attack whereas two guards of Maulana Fazl were also injured in attack. However Maulana and other leaders remained safe in Charsadda on Nowshera Road.Suicide bomber blew himself up with explosives near mobile Van parked near DCO office which caused the death of SHO Charsadda Police station Jamrud Khan including 12 other persons. While 29 sustain injuries.Activists of JUI stated that Maulana had come to address a procession here when suicide attacker tried to target him however he did not succeed in his plan.After suicide attack, Maulana informed that he is safe and he would not be scared by such terrorist elements.
It is second attack on Maulana during this week but he has survived both the attacks.According to security officials, windowpanes of nearby buildings were smashed due to blast. After the blast rescue teams reached the scene whereas security agencies have besieged the area and rescue operations has been launched.Police mobile van was destroyed completely while rescue teams shifted 10 injured persons to Lady Reading Hospital immediately.While talking to a private channel Maulana Fazl said: “I am fine, blast damaged my jeep and some soldiers in my convoy are injured”. Ex-CM Akram Durrani and sacked minister Azam Swati were also with him.The JUI-F chief was scheduled to hold a public meeting in Charsadda. The sources said the suicide bomber blew himself up near the convoy of JUI-F chief.
Eyewitnesses said soon after the explosion, bodies were scattered all around while the injured were seen crying for help.It is pertinent to mention that ten people, including eight JUI-F workers and two cops, were killed when a suicide bomber exploded himself near the Swabi Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway minutes before the arrival of the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the spot on Wednesday.Meanwhile President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Thursday condemned the blast in Charsadda.The two leaders reiterated their resolve in countering terrorism and not to allow anyone disrupt peace in the country.In their separate messages the two leaders expressed deep sorrow over the loss of 12 precious lives in the blast.They prayed to Allah Almighty to shower his blessings on the departed souls and for courage to their families to bear their repairable loss. They also directed best possible medical treatment for the injured. – Onlinenews
