LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen has said that in order to eliminate dens of narcotics sales and to reduce drug use in the city, enforcement teams have been constituted at divisional level, under the supervision of SP, SHO, ANF HC, Excise Inspector and the Drug Inspector.According to an official handout issued on Thursday, Multisectoral Task Force for Lahore Drug Free City Project held its third meeting under the chairmanship of CCPO, who is also the project’s chairman, at the Capital City Police Headquarters.
All the concerned members, including SSP Discipline and Inspection Shariq Kamal, attended the meeting. During the meeting, progress of projects undertaken so far was reviewed and it was decided to further speed up the process of making Lahore a truly drug-free city. The CCPO, while appreciating the work being done, informed the attendees that drug seizure had increased considerably under the campaign, especially during the month of March.The members then also decided to award commendation certificates to police personnel giving outstanding performances that had ensured success of the Lahore Drug Free City Project. The attendees were also informed that the divisional SSP (Operations) has been directed to update a list of the top hundred drug peddlers working across city in order to launch a comprehensive drive against them. Moreover, the Police Emergency “15” has also been directed to disseminate information regarding narcotics cases to the divisional SPs. – Dailytimes
