ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justices Committee in its meeting on Sunday observed that training at the Federal Judicial Academy shall be made compulsory for promotion of the Judicial Officers.In pursuance of decision of the 34th meeting of Board of Governors of Federal Judicial Academy held on 29th January 2011 chaired by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry,Chief Justice of Pakistan regarding setting up performance standard of Judicial Officers and to improve the administration of justice,a meeting was at Islamabad High Court under the chairmanship of Justice Mian Shakir Ullah Jan, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan/Judge In-charge(Administration), Federal Judicial Academy.
It was agreed that each High Court may bring amendments in the relevant rules specifying the training and advance courses for promotion of the Judicial Officers.The chair also asked that concrete suggestions may be given by laying down criteria with regard to imparting of training to the Judicial Officers before they are considered for promotion to higher posts. The Committee unanimously agreed to pass on the deliberations on the said point to each other and fixed the next meeting at Karachi on 7th May, 2011 in consultation with the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court regarding venue and time.The meeting was attended by the Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Chief Justice,High Court of Balochistan, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Chief Justice, Peshawar High Court, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Chief Justice, Lahore High Court, Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rahman, Chief Justice, Islamabad High Court. – APP
