ISLAMABAD: Around 1,500 orphan kids will take part in ‘Pakistan Sweet Homes Annual Sports Festival 2011’ being organized by Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) at Sports Complex from today (March 21).Children from four to six years of age will present music, tableaus, sports and parade in the six-day event, which will conclude on March 26, said, PMB Managing Director Zammurd Khan during a press conference here on Sunday.He said Pakistan Sweet Homes is a project of PMB, launched in March last year with an aim to provide quality education to orphan kids. Under the project’s sponsorship scheme, anyone can sponsor the expenses of a child, which amounts to Rs 9,000 per month.
Zamurd Khan also informed that Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al-Ghadeer would be the chief guest at the opening ceremony of sports gala. While on the occasion of Pakistan Day, falling on March 23, people from different walks of life would also come to the Sports Complex to see the performance of orphan kids. He said on March 25 these kids would go to the President House on the invitation of President Asif Ali Zardari. Besides spending their time at the President House the kids will also have lunch there, Khan said.PBM managing director said, ‘the children living at these home are enrolled in renowned private schools and stay there until graduation.’ Presently there were 15 ‘Sweets Homes’ in the country but the PBM was planning to increase the number up to 5,000 till August this year. – Dailytimes
