President Zardari presides over meetings in Karachi

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday presided over two meetings in Bilawal House here,  one relating to discussions on the political situation with the Sindh PPP Core Committee and the other on development projects and situation in Lyari.The Sindh Core Committee’s meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and provincial ministers Pir Mazhar-ul- Haq, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Agha Siraj Durrani, Nadir Ali Magsi and Ayaz Soomro.The meeting on Lyari was attended besides the Chief Minister by ministers Syed Murad Ali Shah, Rafiq Engineer, Abdul Qadir Patel MNA, Sindh Chief Secretary  Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, Adviser to CM Sindh, Qaiser Bengali and Provincial Secretary Finance Naveed Kamran Baloch.President’s Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the Core Committee’s meeting reviewed the overall political situation in the country, the political situation in Sindh, the coalition matters and the major developmental projects in the province.The President also gave a brief overview of the latest developments on the political front in the country and sought views and suggestions of the participants on the emerging challenges.The meeting expressed the view that the policy of reconciliation should continue, no matter how grave the provocations while at the same time to brace for meeting the challenges.Members of the Core Committee expressed full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Zardari.The President also gave a resume of his visits to Tokyo and Kuwait.He said that Tokyo had announced more than Rs  14 billion interest-free loan to Pakistan for rebuilding the roads and bridges washed away during  the recent floods in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa province.He said that he had also raised the matter of similar assistance for rebuilding damaged infrastructure in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.The meeting on Lyari focused on the development projects in the area, the bottlenecks and the steps being taken to their removal and implement the projects on time.More meetings on law and order and development projects are planned for Monday in Bilawal House Karachi – APP
