KARACHI: Pakistan has a huge potential to expand its horticulture industry at international level as it is the land of beautiful plants and aromatic flowers that captures the attention of nature-lovers and conservationists. This was expressed by Horticulture Society President Fahim Siddiqui while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 60th Flower Show, held here at DHA Seaview Park on Thursday. He said Pakistan is blessed with rare plants and flowers having great worth and admiration in the world, but their horticulture needed to be promoted at large scale. He said the plantation and gardening culture had been growing at professional and domestic level in the society as a number of people were becoming aware of country’s natural resources.“Pakistan is a country of beautiful people who love and appreciate the beauty of nature,” he said. Siddiqui said the flower show was a platform to promote plantation culture for healthy and talented society in the country. The flower show brought together a myriad variety of plants under one roof such as perennials, palms, cacti, bonsai and orchids. It provided a great opportunity to both professionals and amateur gardeners for purchasing plants.Societies such as Orchid Society of Pakistan, Cactus & Succulent Society of Pakistan, Pakistan Bonsai Society, Amateur Gardener’s Club, Ladies Horticulture Society, Ikebana International Karachi Chapter, Sojetsu Study Group, Ohara Study Group, Ikenobo Study Group and Floral Art Society are also participating in the show with their pavilions displaying their respective themes.
