KARACHI: Some 3,500 employees from grade 1 to 15 employed in various healthcare centres and hospitals running under the City District Government Karachi’s (CDGK) Health executive district officer were given promotion letters under service structure on Tuesday.Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed, while addressing the ceremony to distribute promotion letters said, a complete service structure had been implemented in other parts of the province; however, it had partially been implemented in Karachi.He said it had been a long awaited demand of paramedics and other staff to implement the service structure in a complete shape, which was being fulfilled then. The 2,200 employees were transferred from Sindh Health Department to CDGK while 1,300 had belonged to defunct Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), he informed. He said the government was trying its level best to solve the problems of health department employees.DCO Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said several projects have already been initiated to provide modern healthcare facilities in healthcare centres administered by the CDGK. He said health sector employees’ problems would be solved on priority basis.
EDO Health Karachi Dr Nasir Javed Shaikh said the implementation of services structure would benefit employees working under more than 100 categories including lab technician, lady health visitors, x-ray technicians, nursing attendant, naib qasid, watchmen, dispensers, vaccinators, midwives, gardeners, store keepers, dental technicians, drivers, cooks, and others.He said merit was considered in preparation of the list, however, the employees could contact relevant authorities with documents if they did not get the promotion they deserved by the law – Dailytimes
