Religious activists clash in Mansehra Milad procession

MANSEHRA: While Eid Miladun Nabi was celebrated with religious fervour across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, the workers of Jamiat Ahle Sunnat (JAS) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) pelted stones on each other during the Milad procession here.The incident took place when JAS and JUI-F activists came face to face near a local mosque and clashed with each others. However, what prompted the clash could not be ascertained.The city police on Thursday lodged a cross-FIR on the complaints of Maulana Fazal Bari of the JUI-F and Saleem Qadri of JAS. No arrest has been made so far.The JAS activists also took out a protest rally on Thursday, demanding action against the JUI-F activists and leaders. Delegations of both the parties separately met with district police officer Sohail Khalid and apprised him of their grievances.Mr Khalid assured the delegates that those involved in the incident would be taken to task. Meanwhile, various Milad processions were taken out in the city and its suburbs, which merged into the main procession at Muftiabad. Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Qudratullah Qadri, Maulana Umer Farooq and others said that until Muslims followed the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) they could not succeed in this world and the hereafter.In Peshawar, Eid Miladun Nabi was celebrated with religious zeal with the pledge to follow teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).The day began with special prayers for peace, unity and brotherhood of Muslims. Ulema and people took out several processions in different localities of the city.Major government and private buildings, residential plazas, markets and mosques at Ghanta Gar, Sabzi Mandi, Karimpura, Qissa Khwani and Saddar were decorated with banners and lights. Corner meetings and mehfil-i-milad programmes were also arranged in different parts of the district.The processions taken out from various mosques of Chamkani, Ganj, Hazrat Khwani, Hindki Daman and Yakatut converged at Qissa Khwani where ulema highlighted various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet and stressed on following the golden principles of Islam to achieve success.Different religious and social organisations also arranged functions in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi in Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Abbottabad, Karak, Swabi, Buner and other parts of the province.
