Senate Body directs NAB to vacate Chamba House

Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works has directed the National Accountability Bureau to vacate the Chamba House at Lahore till 7th April, 2011.The Committee was presided over by its Chairman Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash at the Parliament House today which discussed in detail the issue of occupation of Chamba House by NAB since, 1999 and Projects initiated by Housing Foundation and Pakistan Housing Authority in different parts of the country including Federal Capital.Chairman and Members of the Committee expressed their serious reservation over the Projects as land acquisition and decided to constitute various sub – committees to look into the schemes initiated for Federal Government Employees and General Public. Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo will be the convener for PHA Housing Schemes for Balochistan whereas Senators Dr. Mrs. Saeeda Iqbal and Abdul Khaliq Pirzada will be conveners of the PHA Housing Schemes at Kurri Road and I-16/3 and Federal Government Housing Foundation Scheme at Bhara-Kahu and Kurri Road respectively.Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash observed that the Committee had earlier directed the NAB to vacate the Chamba House before 31.12.2010 and had recommended that the Ministry of Finance should release the remaining amount for the completion of the NAB building. He expressed his dismay over the slow pace of work. He also directed the quarters concerned to collect the rent for the period the Chamba House remained under NAB’s occupation. Renovation of the Chamba House, Lahore should also be carried by NAB, Senator Bangash said.D.G NAB (Punjab), Justice ® Rana Zahid Mehmood assured that the Chamba House will be vacated till 7th April, 2011. Senior Authorities of PHA and Federal Govt. Employees Housing Foundation also gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing schemes in different parts of the country.The Committee also gave a go ahead to the Pakistan Housing Authority for joint adventure project between PHA and M/S Noble Waters Private Limited as the firm has completed the necessary formalities.The meeting was attended by some others Senators Sardar Ali Khan, Dr. Mrs Saeeda Iqbal, Adnan Khan, Dr. Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo, Nilofar Bakhtiar, Saleh Shah and Syed Zafar Ali Shah .
