PM urges parliamentarians to focus projects for common man

ISLAMABAD, Feb 4 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday said parliamentary democracy is basically focused on issues concerning the common man and the parliamentarians are their elected representatives.The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to a group of parliamentarians who called on him at his Parliament House Chamber Friday morning.The Prime Minister observed that in the parliamentary democratic system, masses are the best judge of performance of the elected representatives.

He said the public representatives should come up with the projects which could benefit the common man. He said politicians are accountable to the people. He added, the sustainability of the democratic process will gradually improve the governance in the country. Reviewing the performance of the government, the Prime Minister said during last three years, despite financial constraints, development of the less-developed areas remained the priority of our Government.

“We released developments funds to all the parliamentarians across the board and focused on the completion of on-going projects for the rehabilitation of flood affecteed and reconstruction of the flood ravaged areas,” he said. The parliamentarians thanked the Prime Minister for his guidance and support in addressing the grievances of people.

They apprised him about progress of work of various projects in their respective constituencies. The parliamentarians include Senator Raza Rabbani, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Minister of Food and Agriculture, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, Minister of State for Communication, Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Finance, MNAs, Ms. Rena Kumari, Moazzam Jatoi, Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Rai Mujtaba Kharal, Pir Aslam Shah, Zahid Khan and Jamil Shah, MPA – APP
