QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has said the federal government should provide funds to the provinces for paying salary to employees being transferred to the provinces under the 18th Amendment of the Constitution.Talking to Dawn on Thursday, he said he had told the recent meeting of the Council for Common Interests (CCI) that Balochistan did not have money to pay salary to any additional employees.“We already face the burden of paying salary to 200,000 employees and a big portion of our budget is spent on payroll expenses,” he said.Answering a question, he said he had opposed the withdrawal of subsidy on tube wells because the move would affect the agriculture sector adversely.“All chief ministers attending the meeting supported my stance over subsidy on agriculture tube wells,” Nawab Raisani said.He said that he had also demanded that in future the federal government should take the people and tribal elders into confidence before launching any oil and gas exploration project in Balochistan and companies should be bound to provide funds for development and protection of environment – Dawn
