TIMERGARA: The Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao has demanded of the government to probe the alleged irregularities in distribution of Watan Cards and Benazir Income Support Programme forms.The demand was made during a public meeting of the party at Chakdara on Thursday to observe the 36th death anniversary of former governor Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao.Hundreds of party workers and elders of the area attended the gathering, which was addressed by PPP-S provincial president MPA Sikandar Khan Sherpao, provincial general secretary Bakht Baidar Khan, provincial vice president Asad Afridi and district president Mohammad Umar.The speakers criticised Pakistan People’s Party and Awami national Party for their failure to address public grievances. “The ruling parties run the affairs of government on American dictation,” they alleged.They said that poverty, unemployment and lawlessness were on the rise in the country but rulers were concerned only abut their personal interests. “Bomb blasts have once again increased in the province as government has totally failed to restore peace,” they said.The speakers said that both ANP and PPP had no right to rule. They said that government and courts should not accept any pressure in Raymond Davis case and carry out investigation considering him an ordinary person.They said that PPP-S chief Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao was the real leader of Pakhtuns as the so-called nationalists chose to leave the region in the time of need.They said that utility bills in the militancy-cum-flood-hit region could not be waived despite the government’s promises. They also paid tribute to their slain leader Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao“We have been raising voice for the people of Malakand while lawmakers from the area have always been silent,” they said.
On the occasion several activists of ANP and PPP announced to quit their parties and join PPP-S.JAMAAT: The local leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami on Thursday demanded of the government to award exemplary punishment to the American citizen, Raymond Davis, who killed two Pakistanis in Lahore last week.Addressing the monthly congregation here, JI district chief Maulana Asadullah said that Dr Aafia was sentenced to 86 years imprisonment by a US court.Raymond Davis killed two innocent Pakistanis but the USA had been forcing the rulers to hand him over to them, he said. He said the JI would not allow anyone to hand over Davis to Americans.“We will resist it strongly if government decides to let him go abroad,” the JI leader threatened. He said Mr Davis should be awarded 100 years imprisonment.He said that a motorcycle rally would be organised at Timergara against America to show solidarity with the aggrieved families of Faizan and Fahim of Lahore.“We will also hold a big rally on Feb 5 to show solidarity with Kashmiri brethren and families of Faizan and Fahim – Dawn
