LAHORE: The certificate distribution ceremony for the First Investigation Course for women police officers was held at the Chung Police Training School on Monday. 20 women officers ranking from assistant sub-inspector to deputy superintendent from all over Punjab completed the course successfully and have been certified to work as station house officers and investigation officers. The chief guest, Training Additional IG, Sarmad Saeed, distributed the certificates, shields and cash prizes among the participants. Sub-Inspector Shazia Noreen from Sargodha, ASI Gulnaaz Khalid from Faisalabad and Sub-Inspector Nusrat Perveen from Muzaffargarh secured the top three positions, respectively. Sarmad Saeed appreciated the hard work of the trainers and persuaded them to hold such trainings for all women police officers of the country. He said that he would also recommend the top three position holders to the Punjab IG for deputing them as additional SHOs in different police stations. The course was arranged by Gender Responsive Policing Project (GRP), a joint venture of the National Police Bureau and the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbelt with the financial assistance of Germany’s Foreign Office. The women officers have learned modern techniques and methods of interrogation, which will bring them at par with their male colleagues.
