LAHORE:Governor Sardar Latif Khosa and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who met at the Governor’s House on Monday, had a unanimous view that kite flying should be allowed during the upcoming basant festival.Governor Khosa, said sources, argued: “If a plane crashes, all other flights are not abandoned.” He, however, hoped that the [Punjab] government should make it sure that metal wire was not used in the kite flying. The two agreed to devise a legal mechanism to prevent the use of metal wire in the kite flying, they added. The two provincial heads also agreed to hold Horse and Cattle Show this year, a fair which has been abandoned for the last three years. The governor also asked the chief minister to promote sports activities in educational institutions.Shahbaz Sharif on this occasion reportedly assured the governor that he will implement the power-sharing formula in Punjab as agreed between the two coalition partners.Khosa and Shahbaz Sharif also resolved to work together in close coordination with each other to rum provincial affairs through mutual consultation. It was the first official call of the chief minister on the governor, which lasted around an hour. The chief minister reached the redezcious at 9:30 am, and was warmly received by the governor.“You are welcome at your own Governor’s House,” Khosa said while greeting Shahbaz Sharif on his arrival there. Later the two had the one-on-one meeting. After the meeting they told reporters that they had agreed to rum Punjab’s administrative matters through mutual cooperation and consultation in the larger interest of the people. The chief minister on this occasion resolved to bridge the communication gap which had existed between the chief executive of the province and the governor in the past three years – Nation
