ISLAMABAD: Once again it has been proved that there is no dearth of talent in the Pakistan and Pakistanis are doing remarkable jobs in every walk of life. Whether it is sports, education, science, arts or any field, the students of this nation and professionals had proved their mettle time and again and this has once again been proven.Ibrahim Shahid, a 17-year-old student of Beaconhouse School System (BSS) has passed 23 subjects with top grade out of 24 subjects and has passed the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) O-Level with flying colors, earning a great name for the Pakistanis.Shahid has put Pakistan on the map again for achieving an amazing record of securing 23 As. Shahid is currently enrolled at the Beaconhouse Margalla Campus, A Level programme.His brilliant result was announced on Monday morning. He sat for 24 CIE O level examinations and proving what he always said, “If it can be dreamed, it can be done.”Beaconhouse is the largest private school of its kind and produces the record number of high achievers, every year. Young Shahid ’s impressive academic feat was in a wide range of subjects that included, Advanced Mathematics, Business Studies, Commercial Studies, Statistics, Human and Social Biology, Combined Science, Economics, Environmental Management, Geography, Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Computer Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Urdu, Sociology, World History, English Language, Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Religion and Culture. His father Shahid Anwar is an electrical engineer and is currently a professor at FAST University. While his mother, Mrs Shahid, a delighted and a proud mother, is a computer scientist, who is a housewife and decided to stay at home and focus completely on her children. Mrs Shahid’s message to all parents is, “If you believe in yourself and keep on working with your child believe me – Every child can do it.”When Daily Times asked about his incredible result, Shahid said planning was very important and that once he decided on something then he completely focused on the task.
Believing in the fact there is always more to learn and achieve, Shahid is also determined on laying down new precedents for advanced level examinations.He termed his success a reward of his handwork, cooperation, trust and prayers of his parents and dedicated efforts of teachers in transforming their knowledge to him.Talking about his future aspirations, this 17 years old chap said he wanted to be an engineer.“I want to be either an engineer or an economist. I will complete my A Levels first and than to study Actuarial Sciences abroad,” he said, adding Actuarial Science is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to assess risk in the insurance and finance industries.“This subject is not common in Pakistan and only Karachi University is offering it,” Shahid explained.He said other than academic; he was a football fanatic and played guitar in his leisure time. “I have been participating in declamation contests and president of school debating society,” he said.Margalla Beaconhouse Principal Rear Admiral Nashat Rafi, while congratulating Shahid for his excellent result in O Level examination, said “BSS is confident that, Shahid will always set the bar higher in every coming exam, and will bring laurels to his parents, teachers, institution and Pakistan”.Beaconhouse Boys Branch headmistress Mehr Asad said “I congratulate Shahid on his achievement and his hardworking and dedicated teachers.Through the efforts of our teachers we endeavour to not only enable each and every student in our branch to shine in Cambridge Examinations but also groom them into fine young men who shall be responsible and proud Pakistanis in future – Dailytimes
