BEIJING: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khan said here that the launch of FM-93 radio channel from China Radio International (CRI),which has vast experience of broadcasting around the world, would create a good opportunity to Pakistani audiences to learn more about China and Pakistan-China relations.The CRI is set to launch its transmission through Radio Pakistan simultaneously from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Kohat (Khyder Pakhtunkhwa) from Monday.The launch of the FM Channel initially from five major cities of Pakistan is a milestone in all weather relations, as both Pakistan and China have decided to celebrate 2011 as the year of Friendship.In his message on the occasion Ambassador Khan said that a great deal of love and affection prevails among the people of both the countries.He said that there is a passion for unity among the people of both sides,adding that he considers that “Radio and Television can play an important role to further deepen these ties”.
CRI, he said, has played a key role to bring closer the people of the two countries.Ambassador Khan said that the people of Pakistan would especially welcome CRI’s Urdu service.Over the years, he said, CRI had promoted Urdu language.Ambassador Khan pointed out that the launch of CRI programmes on FM-93 is a welcome step. Through the FM broadcasts, Urdu will now emerge as a new medium of communications between the ordinary citizens of Pakistan with China.China, he said, has made rapid progress. It has become the second largest economy in the world and would become the largest manufacturing nation in 2011.CRI, through its English and Urdu broadcasts, will be able to share with its Pakistani listeners news about China’s phenomenal development.He said the selection of the peak hours of 1700-1900 hrs timings for airing programmes would ensure that a maximum number of people listen to CRI’s programmes – APP
