ISLAMABAD(APP): PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday proposed a few points agenda to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for pulling the country out of the current crisis. The Prime Minister either should accept or reject it within 72 hours if he wants to steer his government out of  the present challenges, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader told a press conference at Punjab House here.
“If, the Prime Minister says yes, the government will have 45 days for visible implementation of the agenda. Otherwise, the PML-N will invite the opposition parties to materialize it,” said the PML-N chief.  Nawaz was flanked by senior party leaders, including Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Ghaus Ali Shah, Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Zafar Ali Shah, Ishaq Dar and Dr. Tariq Fazl Chaudhry.
He said that the PML-N extracted the “interim agenda” from its broader plan, which was aimed at mitigating sufferings of the common man and putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity.
The agenda contains immediate withdrawal of recently increased petroleum prices, formulation of an effective mechanism to stop frequent hikes in electricity and gas tariffs, to reduce gas and electricity loadshedding durations gradually, immediate removal of corrupt elements from government departments, to control prices of daily-use items, full implementation of superior court decisions, re-organization of Election Commission of Pakistan, 30 per cent cut on government expenditures, ensuring reasonable size of the federal cabinet, arrest of people involved in scandals like Hajj, Bank of Punjab and NICL, recovery of loans waived off on political grounds and to ensure Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity.
He said after the passage of 18th Amendment, the Prime Minister was fully authorised to address all the issues given in the interim agenda.  Nawaz Sharif said if the government refused to accept the agenda, the PML-N would part its ways with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Punjab too.
He said his party had taken a principled stand and left the Federal Cabinet around two and a half year ago after having difference of opinion with the PPP on some issues.
Without taking names of Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl and Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Nawaz Sharif said that the PML-N had left the cabinet due to its principled stand but some parties parted ways when their personal interests were hurt – APP
