Justice Chaudhry Shahid Saeed of the Lahore High Court on Monday issued a notice for Tuesday (today) to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited’s (SNGPL) managing director, general manager and director billing on a petition moved by a citizen, who received a gas bill of Rs 950,000 for the month of December, 2010. Muhammad Amjad, owner of a dry cleaning shop in Sherakot, had moved the petition.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted that his client’s average gas bill for the last year was Rs 50,000. He said that even for the month of November 2010, he had received a bill of Rs 37,000, which he had duly paid. He said that the SNGPL issued an inflated bill of Rs 950,000 to Amjad for the month of December and also disconnected his connection for non-payment. Claiming that the bill, issued to him, was erroneous, the counsel requested the court to direct the SNGPL to correct the dry cleaner’s bill and restore his gas connection without any charges. – Dailytimes
