LAHORE- District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema has said the Kot Lakhpat vegetable market will be shifted on a piece of land of about 1,000 kanals, situated at Gajomata.
Presiding over a meeting held here on Tuesday with President and Secretary of Sabzi Mandi Kot Lakhpat, DG LDA, MPAs and officers concerned, said that first phase of shifting of such vegetable market would be completed by January 31st, 2011.
He said that all the shopkeepers would be allotted land in the new market, according to the current value of their property in Kot Lakhpat.
He said that all the basic facilities such as toilets, cold storage, gas water, electricity sewerage, mosque, bank, post office, and security would be arranged and ensured for such a modern market, constructed under the supervision of experienced engineers.
The DCO also formed a five member committee for estimating current value of the shops in Kot Lakhpat. Whereas, the office bearers proposed allocation of at least 10 marla plot to each shopkeeper.
However, DCO assured them that no shopkeeper would be disturbed by any means during shifting of market and process of allocation of plots, which would be fair.
