QUETTA: Six districts of Balochistan have been declared as high risk areas for polio as more than 11 polio cases has been reported this year said provincial Balochistan Dr. Muhammad Ayub. As per details, three polio cases each in Quetta, Qilla Abdullah and Pasheen has been reported wherein two cases each in Jaffarabad, Naseerabad and Chaghi. He told that in last year number of polio cases in Balochistan was 11 and situation in current year is same, however the figure of polio cases could increased as people from Sindh are migrating to different border areas of Balochistan and it is chance that new polio cases could be reregistered so that’s why six districts of Balochistan including Jaffarabad, Naseerabad have been declared high risk areas.

It is relevant to be mentioned that recently Provincial health minister had admitted that being a health minister he could not make polio free Balochistan for that he is regretful. He also accepted that despite of series of polio campaigns in Balochistan the number of polio cases is increasing with each passing day, which is a source of concern for all of us, he said if we considered every child, as our own child Balochistan can be made polio free region. – Onlinenews
