LAHORE– Mahad Faisal, a 14-year-old student of Aitchison College and grandson of a retired military General, was gunned down during a party that was taking place at the residence of his class-mate here in Cantonment area, police sources disclosed on Thursday night.Police sources revealed that a good number of students of Aitchison College were enjoying the party at the (Askari-10) residence of their class-fellow two days ago when one of the participants opened fire.
Among the participants there was also Ahmed Sherpao, the grandson of leading politician Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.
Mahad Faisal, grandson of Mr Hannan, was rushed to Lahore General Hospital (LGH) with severe bullet injuries. He remained admitted in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Lahore General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead late on Thursday night.
Earlier, the Sarwar Road police registered the attempted murder case under Section (324/PPC) against unidentified attackers.
Mahad Faisal, resident of House (No 4) situated at Jinnah Lane near Girja Chowk in Cantonment area, sustained the bullet in the head, hospital sources said. Most of the students managed to escape from the crime scene as the gun-fire terrified the youngsters.
However, motive behind the murder were yet to be ascertained till filing of this report. When contacted, SP Cantonment Jawad Qamar said that boy died at the hospital and his body was being shifted to the morgue for an autopsy.
Later, SP (Investigations) Cantonment Amin Bukhari confirmed the incident and said that investigations are underway.
‘We have registered the attempted murder case and nobody has been nominated as accused in the FIR. We are investigating’, he added but declined to give any further details. Police sources also disclosed that the accused, said to be classmate of Mahad, is also belonged to a very influential family. There were also reports that the accused has fled from the country. When contacted repeatedly, the victim’s family members were reluctant to comment on the issue.
The close friends of the deceased including Hamza Elahi, Danial Yunus and Basir Israr wrote ‘rest in peace’ messages on the facebook for their friend, shortly after doctors pronounced him dead.
