Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association (PPBA) Chairman Aziz Khaild has said that PPBA in association with National Book Foundation of Education Ministry is organising the 6th Karachi International Book Fair (KIBF) at Expo Centre from December 24 to 28, 2010. He disclosed this at a press briefing at a local hotel, here on Wednesday. Khalid said that a five-day long book fair would be inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq. “More than 160 domestic and international publishers are participating in the event. The 6th KIBF will also provides opportunities for literacy circles and book lovers,” he said. To a question, he said that immigration problem is an international problem and we are also facing it. KIBF Convener Owais Mirza Jamil said that the prime objective of the 6th KIBF is to promote book culture and spread the lightness of literacy in the country, particularly in Karachi.
He said that various activities including seminars, book inauguration ceremonies and discussions would be organised during the book fair. Pakistan Libraries Associ-ation’s Prof Malahat informed the media that during the 6th KIBF, the association would provide computer training about maintaining libraries. She also said that the association would introduce a list of libraries first time in Pakistan at the stall of PLA. – Dailytimes
