Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram is being observed with due solemnity on Friday throughout the country including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to commemorate the great sacrifices rendered byHazrat Imam Hussain (AS), his family members and companions for upholding the glorious norms of Islam.
All government offices and other organisations including educational institutions, banks and commercial centres remained closed as the government declared public holidays on Thursday and Friday.
The mourning processions were being taken out across the country amid foolproof security. The religious scholars in their sermons highlighted the significance of the supreme sacrifices of ‘Shuhda-e-Karbala’.
