Six killed in various incidents in city

LAHORE: Six people, including two minors and a sub-inspector (SI), were killed in various incidents in the provincial metropolis on Sunday.A 45-year-old man was shot dead, while four others, including a 7-year-old girl, sustained bullet injuries when a group opened fire at the house of a milkman over a monetary dispute in the Batapur police precincts.The deceased was identified as Zahid Mehmood, 45, the brother-in-law of a milkman, Abid, a resident of Bhatta Village.According to details, the Rafi Mali Group used to purchase milk from Abid and owed him Rs 70,000. Abid kept on demanding money from them, but the accused kept delaying. A few days back, Abid had a scuffle with the accused over the same issue but locals intervened and stopped them. On the day of incident, Abid went to the house of Rafi Mali and again demanded money from him but he refused to pay him.After a while, Rafi, along with his son Nazar Iqbal, Amjad and two of their unidentified accomplices, went to Abid’s house and started firing at it. As a result, five people sustained bullet injuries.

The victims were rushed to a local hospital, where Zahid succumbed to his injuries.Police removed the dead body to the morgue and registered a case against the accused, however no arrests had been made until the filing of this report.In another incident, a 2-year-old boy was burnt to death after a pot of hot water fell on him, while the body of another boy of the same age was recovered from a swamp in the Baghbanpura police precincts.Police said that the minor, named Abdul Wasay, son of Noor Hussain and a resident of Angori Bagh, was playing near the stove when a pot of hot boiling water fell on him. As a result, Wasay was severely burnt and rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.Separately, the body of a 2-year-old boy, Ahmad Ali, son of Aslam and a resident of Shadipura, Baghbanpura, who had been missing from his house since six days, was found. The family of the victim searched for the baby but to no avail. Ali’s family also informed the police but even they were unable to find the child. On Sunday, the deceased’s family spotted Ali’s body in a swamp, a few yards away from their house. Police reached the spot and removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy. Police said that the cause of the death would be ascertained after the autopsy, as there were no torture marks on the body.

Also, a man died in a local hospital on Sunday, six days after he was shot and wounded by unidentified persons in the Garhi Shahu.The deceased was identified as Chaudhry Nazeer, a resident of Main Bazaar, Iqbal Street, Garhi Shahu. Police said that he was shot and wounded by some unidentified persons on December 7. Nazeer was admitted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.In another development, a 55-year-old SI died due to a cardiac arrest while on duty at a majlis in the Iqbal Town police precincts on Sunday.Police confirmed that the deceased, identified as Ali Akbar, a resident of Sheikhupura, died of a cardiac arrest.Separately, the Ravi Road police recovered the body of 50-year-old man. The deceased was identified as Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan. Police contacted his family members, who told them that he was a habitual addict and had left his house since long.In another development a woman of Pattoki has appealed to the Punjab inspector general of police to take necessary action against the accused who kidnapped her son during the month of November from Jia Mosa – Dailytimes
