ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday announced one billion rupees for supply of gas to all the agencies of Federal Administered Tribal Areas.The infrastructural details will be prepared by the concerned organizations. He also sanctioned 2000 Lungies (Turbans) for all the agencies of FATA.The procedural details in this regard would be finalized by the elected representatives and the political agents. He announced establishment of IT University in FATA to cater for the needs of the students of the region.The Prime Minister made the above announcements in a meeting with delegation of MNAs from FATA, who called on him at the PM House.He appreciated the courage and commitment of the people of FATA in facing the challenge of terrorism and the support extended to the armed forces in curbing militancy. The sacrifices made by the people of FATA, he said, are duly recognized by the entire nation.
The Prime Minister assured the delegation that development works in FATA would be accelerated and preference would be given to the ongoing projects for early completion. He also assured that the Ministry of Interior will be directed to facilitate the people of FATA region in preparation of readable passports and ID cards.The Prime Minister said the government would continue to pursue the policy of reconciliation and consensus building on all national matters. The Parliament, he said, is the best forum to discuss and debate upon issues concerning the people. This practice, he said, would further strengthen and raise the dignity of the Parliament.He urged upon the elected representatives to focus on the welfare of the people of their respective areas and personally monitor the development activities.The members of the FATA delegation lauded the leadership qualities of the Prime Minister and appreciated the support being given by the Government for the uplift of FATA region. They welcomed the announcements made by the Prime Minister and recalled that electricity was given to FATA by late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed which brought about a great change in the quality of life of the people in the region.They also apprised the Prime Minister on the progress of various development projects in different parts of FATA as well as the difficulties of the people after the recent floods.Hameedullah Jan Afridi, Minister for Environment, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Minister for Zakat and Ushr were part of the delegation which included Haji Munir Khan Orakzai, MNA, Sajid Hussain Toori, MNA, Javed Hussain, MNA, Muhammad Kamran Khan, MNA and Shaukatullah, MNA – App
