PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information & Public Relations Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that recent flood was the worst and biggest natural disaster in the history of province and it was difficult for the government to deal with it without active support of the people and national and international NGOs and welfare organizations.According to press release issued here on Friday, he added that the government was whole-heartedly thankful to the people, NGOs, Army and philanthropists for extending for their full support in this critical moment.
This he stated while distributing quilts sets donated by Muslim Hands International (MHI) among the flood affectees of his constituency PF-12 District Nowshera. Regional Manager MHI Rahimullah, General Secretary ANP Nowshera Zar Ali Khan, Nazim-a-Aala Ahle-Sunnit Ali Zaman Chisti and Tameezudin Khattak were also present on the occasion.Regional Manager MHI on this occasion informed the Minister that MHI was International Welfare Organization, which was engaged in welfare activities in 50 countries of the world. He further informed that so far 400 quilts sets have been distributed among the flood affectees of PF-12 besides distributing 750 similar sets in Timergara.
The Information Minister maintained, natural disaster in the past had affected particular areas where carrying out relief work was easily possible but the recent floods played havoc and out of 25 affected in 24 district of the province. It besides damaging the infrastructure of 160 years of the province has also caused a huge number of human lives with short span of time , he said. He furthered that the provincial government diverted its Rs.17 billion ADP to the flood relief fund.Mian Iftikhar continued that with the grace Allah, the Almighty early relief work has successfully been completed and now next stage is the rehabilitation of the affectees for which we need early help of the national and international NGOs, welfare organizations and philanthropists. In the initial stage, Rs.20 thousands were being provided to the affectees through Watan Cards and remaining compensation would be given after getting the relief fund from the center, he added.The minister while thanking the MHI for providing quilts sets to the affectees in the winter season, appealed from other NGOs , welfare organization and well to do persons to extend similar aid to the affectees for the upcoming winter season – Onlinenews
