KARACHI: The blood of the martyr of revolution, Dr Imran Farooq, and others will bring a revolution in the country for the poor and middle classes, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said on Sunday. In a telephonic address on Farooq’s soyem, which was simultaneously held in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, Hussain said the revolution would establish a corruption-free system based on the principles of justice and equality.A large number of people, including Farooq’s family, MQM activists and office-bearers, federal and provincial ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of various social organisations, religious scholars, journalists, and traders, attended the soyem.
While highlighting various facets of Farooq’s life, sacrifices, struggles and strong moral fibre, rich tributes were paid to and fateha offered for him. Hussain said there were many who lived for themselves, but the real aim of life is to serve humanity and sacrificing personal gains for the benefit of all.Farooq was one of those who live and devote their life for others, living in the annals of history even when they leave the world.“I salute his parents for the way they brought him up and bore the agonising days of his hiding with patience and courage. I salute his mother who gave birth to a loyal, brave, patient and noble man who devoted his entire life for the movement.”Farooq was always working for the welfare of the movement and disseminating the ideology of the party.

He regretted that some so-called intellectuals always reviled his idea of revolution in their analyses.“These are the people who want to continue with the status quo and perpetuate the exploitative system in the country.” Revolutions do not occur by only talking about them, but one has to sacrifice their time and wishes for the righteous struggle.“Thousands of my workers have sacrificed their lives for this struggle. The blood of my brother and my nephew is among them. Sons of many mothers went missing and their whereabouts remain unascertained to this day.He asked the younger generation to decide which party has sacrificed the most for its cause. “They must decide whether they want to continue looking up to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank or stand on their own feet through unity – Dailytimes
