ISLAMABAD : Conceptualised, designed and created by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa), the Pakistan National Monument Museum opened for public here on Thursday in a prestigious ceremony. Federal Minister for Culture Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani was the chief guest while Federal Secretary for Culture Moin-ul-Islam Bukhari was also present at the occasion.Speaking at the occasion, Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani said, “I am honoured to inaugurate this milestone achievement for the public today.
This thematic museum is a gift for the people of Pakistan from their democratic government led by Pakistan People’s Party”. The minister maintained that the museum projects Pakistan in all its dimensions of thought and action, dream and its materialization without raising controversies adding that there cannot be any second opinion about the significance and sanctity of the museum.Sharing his views, the minister said, “almost all cultural institutions in Pakistan were created during the first democratic government of PPP, under the leadership of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutt,” adding that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also contributed significantly forward further strengthening of these important institutions during her two regimes. The minister congratulated officials of the federal ministry of culture and Lok Virsa, in particular Moin ul Islam Bukhari, secretary culture and Khalid Javaid, executive director, Lok Virsa for the dedicated and endless efforts in delivery of this national asset for the people of Pakistan. The minister also commended the services of the experts, designers, sculptors and professionals of Lok Virsa, who conceptualized and created the museum in such a magnificent way.
The minister hoped that the unique museum would not only go a long way in educating the younger generation of Pakistan about the sacrifices of their national leaders who sacrificed for a better future of the nation but also serve to promote and project the cultural face and soft image of Pakistan to the outer world in a more effective way.Dedicated to those who sacrificed their today for a better tomorrow, the museum depicts history, struggle for freedom, emergence and development of Pakistan through 3-dimensional dioramic displays.It also presents key achievements of the country after independence, particularly in the field of culture, tourism, education, defence, communication, science and technology, sports, industries, women development and other important and diverse sectors of national life.Here one can also see glimpses of meritorious services rendered by the founder of Pakistan, Qauid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, national poet and philosopher Allama Iqbal and a number of other national heroes and freedom fightersA complete storyboard on Pakistan movement is also an integral part of the museum.The museum has a distinct and well defined identity located next to the Pakistan Monument that is dedicated to those who laid their lives for the nation – Dailymailnews
