ISLAMABAD: The government on Sunday increased the price of petrol by Rs 5.97 per litre in line with increase in global oil prices, effective from November 1 (today).According to a notification of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 5.97 per litre, HOBC Rs 7.11 per litre, high-speed diesel (HSD) Rs 4.51 per litre, light diesel oil Rs 4.27 per litre, kerosene oil Rs 5.15 per litre, JP1 (local) Rs 4.61 per litre, JP4 Rs 5.29 per litre and JP8 Rs 4.61 per litre.The new price of petrol is Rs 72.96 per litre, HOBC Rs 86.67 per litre, HSD Rs 78.33 per litre, light diesel oil Rs 66.61 per litre, kerosene oil Rs 70.95 per litre, JP1 (local) Rs 60.26 per litre, JP4 Rs 57.45 per litre and JP8 Rs 59.96 per litre.Addressing a press conference, a spokesman for OGRA, Syed Jawad Naseem, said that the reason behind the recent increase in petroleum products was the price hike in international market.After changing the prices, the government would continue charging Rs 10 per litre petroleum levy on petrol, Rs 8 per litre on high-speed diesel, Rs 14 per litre on HOBC, Rs 3 per litre on light diesel oil and Rs 6 per litre on kerosene oil – Dailytimes
