LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained former federal minister for defence production major (r) Habibullah Warriach over a land scandal on Sunday. The FIA detained the minister and his aide Akram Warriach from Cavalry Grounds due to their involvement in the National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) scandal and shifted them to an undisclosed location for further investigation, a private TV channel reported. According to the sources, the former minister, his son Mohsin Habib Warriach and others were accused of extorting money amounting to Rs 1.68 billion from the NICL on account of sale of property measuring 803 kanals located, in Lahore. The said land, whose value was around a little more than 10 million, but due to the influence and connivance of the accused succeeded to receive an amount of Rs 1.68 billion from the NICL.
