Punjab government determined to encourage industry

The Punjab Government is determined to encourage industry in the province and will provide every possible facility to the industrialists. This was stated by Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa here on Tuesday. He further said that agriculture is backbone of our national economy and farmers are the major component of agriculture system.He said the government will safeguard the interests of sugarcane growers and will not tolerate their exploitation at the hands of industrialists. He said the problems of sugarcane growers would be resolved on priority basis so as to increase the production of sugarcane in the province.While presiding over a meeting of Committee on Development of High Recovery Sugarcane in Punjab, he said the government is taking all out steps for development of agriculture sector. Punjab Minister for Agriculture Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Minister for Food Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Members Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Ijaz Shafi, Rao Kashif Rahim, Nadeem Abbas Rabera, Secretaries of Agriculture and Food Departments, Cane Commissioner Punjab, representatives of cane growers and Sugar Mills Association attended the meeting besides other high ranking officials.

The Committee listened to the problems of sugarcane growers and sugar mill owners, whereas, the committee would prepare recommendations to solve the problems and to remove the bottlenecks and send them for the final approval of the Chief Minister Punjab – Brecorder
