PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that an effective strategy can help overcome surmountable social, political, economic and administrative challenges but no society can flourish without rule of law and independent judiciary for which the role of lawyers’ community is quite vital. He expressed these views while addressing a gathering after administering oath to newly-elected office-bearers of District Bar Association here Wednesday.Senior ministers Rahimdad Khan and Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Law Minister Arshad Abdullah, Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and senior leaders of lawyers’ fraternity were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Amir Haider Hoti said that practical implementation of Nizam-e-Adl regulations would be materialised in Malakand division during the current month as much time had already been wasted.Lauding the support of judiciary in enforcement of Shariah in the turbulent Malakand division, the chief minister said that all arrangements had been finalised for functioning of Darul Quza.He further said that his government was striving for establishing a corruption free administrative mechanism, but focus was being laid on war against terrorism as it was a matter of survival for the whole country, he maintained. Regarding reforms in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Hoti said that gradual political and administrative reforms were essential for bringing FATA into mainstream development.
However, he hastened to add, these measures should be taken after taking tribal people into confidence.”After coming into to power, our government followed the traditions of ancestors by holding talks with extremists to restore peace in the province, however, the opportunity was wasted.”He vowed that fight against terrorism and extremism would continue till the elimination of last terrorist from the soil of Pakhtuns.Earlier, the chief minister administered oath to the newly-elected office-holders of the bar association which comprises President Razaullah Khan, Vice President Syed Taimur Ali Shah, General Secretary Amjid Ali Khan, Join Secretary Farman Khan and others – Statesman
