PESHAWAR: In a bid to exert more pressure on the government for ensuring safe and early recovery of kidnapped physician Dr Intikhab Alam, Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) has announced to observe a complete strike in Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) where only a token strike was being observed for last couple of days.  An announcement to this effect was made by President PDA Shah Sawar during a press conference at press club on Thursday.Other office-bearers of the association were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Shah Sawar said that it had been decided to extend the complete strike to HMC after LRH where doctors had already been on complete strike for last two days. He threatened that full strike would be extended to other tertiary hospitals of the province including Khyber Teaching Hospital and Ayub Medical Complex if their colleague was not recovered within three days.He disclosed that a camp would be established in front of LRH and HMC to ensure the provision of treatment facilities to the poor patients, reports PPI.APP adds: Protesting doctors of the provincial metropolis on Wednesday called off their strike in private clinics wherein alternative arrangements would be made for provision of medical services to poor patients.

On the call of PDA, the doctors community had went on strike and had declined the provision of medical facilities to patients in both public health facilities and private clinics to protest the kidnapping of the renowned physician Intikhab Alam.Due to the strike of doctors, the Outdoor Patients Department (OPD) in all major hospitals of the provincial metropolis had been closed for last five days causing numerous problems for patients. The decision of calling off strike in private clinics was taken unanimously by the executive body, announced Dr. Shah Sawar Khan while speaking in a press conference.

The decision, he said, has been taken in the interest of the ailing humanity as due to ongoing strike the patients were facing many problems. He said that no response had come from the government functionaries and concerned officials despite observing strike against the abduction of Dr. Intikhab – Statesman
