ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s stance regarding Kashmir, adding that the issue needs progress rather than review.Talking to media after participating in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, which was chaired by Senator Salim Saifullah Kahn and attending by Nawabzada Malik Ammad Kahn, Senator Professor Khursheed Ahmad, S.M.Zaffar and Jehangir Badar, Qureshi said that India has been told in equivocal terms that the next session of dialogue should not be result-oriented instead of mere photo session.“Not only we but Indian people also want meaningful talks on Kashmir issue”, Qureshi said.He called upon the global community to help end the Indian forces’ atrocities and human rights violations going on in the held valley.“India might not have liked my speech at the United Nations, I think, that is why it is delaying the process of dialogue resumption” the minister replied when asked about the delay in the talks with India. Replying a question about his meeting with the COAS, the FM said that he did not give heed to rumours. When his attention was drawn to Dr Aafia’s repatriation, he said that “We cannot do anything about US judicial system; however, efforts are on all the diplomatic and political channels are on to get her back”.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India has not felt good on the speech delivered at UNO general assembly so it is not contacting Pakistan for dialogue.He said that the Pakistani embassies and missions in the world will be motivated to highlight Indian atrocities in front of international community.The senate committee members also gave suggestions for highlighting the atrocities of Indian forces on Kashmiris in front of world.He said he informed the committee about the changing situation of held Kashmir and his recent of US, adding that he will continue to take guidance form the committee regarding the foreign policy.
He said that he had discussed the Dr Afiya release issue with the US secretary of state Hillary Clinton, adding that government will provide every possible support for the family members of Dr Afiay for her release.Chairman of the Committee Salim Saifullah Kahn said that the committee supports all efforts of government regarding the Kashmir issue.Professor Khurshid Ahmed condemning the Pervez Musharraf policy on Kashmir stressed on the need to adopt clear cut policy according to the wishes of the Kashmiris – App
