BENAZIRABAD (NAWABSHAH), Oct 11 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday vowed to protect rights of the people by foiling conspiracies to undermine Pakistan People’s Party government.Speaking at the inauguration of development projects of Benazirabad district (Nawabshah) here, he said dictators always harmed the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) but Pakistan could not afford any such jokes in future. He said the PPP had its roots in every part of Pakistan, from Kashmir to the shores of Karachi, and it was name of a philosophy and ideology.“The PPP is more than the government and it is the will of the people. It will plan to get their rights in elections”, he said adding “Our opponents are working to snatch rights of oppressed in the next election.”
He assured that the PPP which had completed its three years would continue to work for the welfare of people. He said the PPP always stressed on negotiations and politics of reconciliation.Even the dictator of this age was forced to accept Benazir Bhutto as a martyr, he added. He said unlike others they were not afraid of “mosquitos of jail”.
He lamented that their opponents were trying to stay in the headlines of next day instead of raising their stature as political leaders.
“But people forget these headlines,” he said adding that he wanted to tread the path of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who preferred not to live in palaces as he wanted to stay alive in annals of history.
He said the PPP government foresaw problems and it gave rights to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and apologised for the wrongs committed against Balochistan.
Some forces are using glitter to undermine the PPP but like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, who stood up against the undemocratic forces, he would do the same, he resolved.
Injustice was done to the PPP and it always had to contest elections according to the constitutional limits of others, he said adding “despite all the restrictions the PPP prevails with the strength of people”.
The President expressed satisfaction over the working of the government and praised performance of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
He said Pakistan is continuing its dialogue with international community and is getting more market access and aid than ever before.
