NATO trucks cross from Pakistan to Afghanistan

Pakistan has ended a road closure that had prevented NATO supply trucks from crossing the border safely into Afghanistan.The trucks had been forced to divert to a more dangerous route, exposing them to militant attacks.The trucks were moving across the Torkham crossing on Sunday, a first since Sept. 30 when Pakistan closed the route after a U.S. helicopter strike killed two Pakistani soldiers.About 150 trucks were destroyed while the crossing was closed, and some drivers and police were injured.On Wednesday, the U.S. apologized for the air strike after an investigation concluded the “tragic event could have been avoided with better coalition force co-ordination with the Pakistan military.”The U.S. said the Torkham closure did not affect supplies for troops fighting in Afghanistan.
