LAHORE (October 05 2010): Women can play an important role in economic wellbeing of the country, provided they get the required facilitation from government departments. President Central and North Punjab Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WCCI), Dr Shehla Javed Akram stated this while speaking at Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) on Monday.
Dr Shehla Akram said she is making all out efforts for creating awareness among women entrepreneurs. She said that WCCI has chalked out work plan to ensure economic empowerment of women. She said the very objective of establishment of the women chamber is to motivate women entrepreneurs so that they are able to play their role for economic turnaround of the country. She expressed hope that Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry would continue to support the businesswomen.While giving a presentation about WCCI, she enumerated achievements of the chamber and MoU it has signed with various organisations, aiming at facilitating women entrepreneurs. She said that the chamber is equipping women entrepreneurs with the latest business techniques and methodologies so that they are able to run their businesses independently.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik said LCCI has been vocal and supportive to the concept of empowering women entrepreneurs. He said LCCI Women Resource Centre is playing very active role in the LCCI as one of its department, which provides business information and technical assistance to women entrepreneurs, is registered with LCCI – Brecorder
