President Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday that political orphans had joined hands with political actors to destabilize the representative government but they were doomed to be frustrated. The people of Pakistan will never let them succeed in their designs, the President said while addressing a public meeting here to distribute cheques among the selected registered families through computerised balloting under the Waseela-e-Haq and launching of nationwide poverty survey, an initiative of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that President Zardari also pledged to lift the poor and destitute from generational poverty trap through the BISP.The President formally launched a national programme under which each BISP beneficiary would be automatically insured at state expense, entitling heirs to receive Rs 100,000 after his or her death.
In the next phase health insurance facility will also be extended to the BISP beneficiaries to ensure free medical assistance, the President announced.
The President said the PPP which believed in democracy had rendered numerous sacrifices for the cause of democracy and would continue to strive for further strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.
