Tonight’s episode of “The Real Housewives of D.C.” will finally show the moment we’ve all been waiting for: The night that Tareq and Michaele Salahi showed up at the White House for President Obama’s first state dinner.
If you want to go into tonight’s episode completely unspoiled, then you should stop reading now. But for those of you who want the few advance tidbits the preview clips offer, here you go: For starters, even Michaele’s hair stylist knew that she was headed to the White House that November evening.“Tonight’s a really big night,” she explained as she sat in her stylist’s chair. “It’s a special dinner and it’s really important, it’s confidential – and it’s the state dinner.” The stylist, obviously not clueless about White House security (or prodded by producers, who knows?) inquired as to when Michaele received such a prestigious invite. “It just came, that’s the thing. The first way it came was through a phone call,” she said before adding in an interview aside, “For me the most important part of the invitation was the phone call. That was the biggest high that day when I found out that we were going to be invited.”
The stylist continued to do her thing as Michaele informed her that she used to go to the White House all the time as a makeup artist – “it’s great to go back as a guest, you see it from both sides,” she said – and towards the end of the appointment, the stylist asked if she could see the invitation. Michaele replied, “Yes I have to get it,” before proceeding to walk out to her vehicle, climb inside, play around with a few bangles, and whisper, “It’s not in there,” before the camera shows her going back inside the salon. Hmm…
The preview clip picks up with a fully dressed Tareq Salahi watching his wife emerge, primped and ready to go. “I feel like it’s our wedding,” she told him. Tareq and Michaele then climb into their vehicle and share a smooch before Michaele takes a call from Stacie, gushing to her about how excited she is. When Stacie asks the inevitable “why,” Michaele informs her that she’s headed to the state dinner. “The state dinner?” an obviously surprised Stacie repeats. “You’re going to the White House tonight?!” Annnd the scene ends.
