PESHAWAR: A meeting of the provincial cabinet committee regarding the establishment of a public limited company for oil and gas exploration in the province was held here Thursday with Senior Minister Rahimdad Khan in the chair, says a handout. Ministers including Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Arbab Ayub Jan and Ahmad Hussain Shah, secretary Energy and Power Altaf Khan, representatives of Finance Department and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed issues relating to the constitution of a proposed board for the company, administrative structure of the company its financial implications and other related matters in detail.
It was decided that meeting would prepare its recommendations in consultation with the experts of the field and forward the same to the cabinet for approval as soon as possible.
Addressing the meeting, Rahimdad Khan, who is also the chairman of the committee, said that exploration of the natural resources of the province was the need of the hour and the provincial government was determined to explore and exploit the natural resources of the province.
The establishment of the company would help to boost the economy of the province by making the best use of the oil and gas reserves.
The meeting concluded with the decision to convene the next meeting of the committee on Sept 28 to have a detailed consultation with the technical expertise of the field – Statesman
