Judicial Commission Formation

The Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer had written a letter to the Hon’ble Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan requesting for  constitution of a special judicial commission to probe the matter related to the alleged plot to target the life of Chief Justice of Lahore High Court. In reply to this letter, Supreme Court has informed the Governor Punjab that under Section 3 of the Commission of Inquiries Act 1956, the Federal Government is empowered to constitute a commission to inquire into any matter of public importance.
