India’s Sania Mirza and Romania’s Edina Gallovits Saturday stormed into the doubles semifinals of the $220,000 Guangzhou International Women’s Open tennis.
Sania and Gallovits upset fourth-seeded Briton Anna Smith and China’s Zi Yan 6-2, 6-4.
The unseeded Indo-Romanian pair next play Ukraine’s Olga Savchuk and Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand.
Sania has already crashed out of the singles in the quarterfinals.
